The philosophy

We want to share the inspirational sailor life with our guests. When you step on board, you not only sail along with us, but you also get a chance to participate in the goings of the ship and join us for a hands-on sailing experience. Together we’ll can go explore the deep blue, expose ourselves to the elements and front-row experience the incredible landscape of the world ast hidden gems on the rhythm of the ocean swell. On top of this unique sailing experience, we go ashore to practice outdoor sports such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, surfing, climbing, etc. We drop you off in locations that are difficult or exclusively accessible by water for an unforgettable adventure. Disconnecting from everyday life and enjoying nothing but the best nature has to offer.

The crew

Robin

An energetic, licensed skippers. He’s firm but fair, and always up for a laugh. He understands water and wind like no other; and knows our Mencia inside out. Always busy keeping her in shape, checking the sails, maintaining the engine or taking care of one or another boat chore. When he’s not sailing, you can spot him in the lineup either wind or wave surfing; or exploring the nearest mountain range with his splitboard.

Sammy

A good-tempered first mate and navigator is always up for adventure on or off the water. She keeps Mencia organized and stocked for every voyage. She loves being on the water but also enjoys being in the water, freediving or surfing. On land, hiking and snowboarding are her go to activities. The best way to discover the local fauna and flora from any anchorage.

The boat

General info

Our home for almost 3 years now. She is a 40ft sailboat, built in 1982 in Breskens, The Netherlands. She has sails obviously, but she also has an inboard engine. From the nicely protected cockpit, you can sit outside comfortable and enjoy the ride. There are 7 beds onboard. A double bed in the front cabine, 3 in the back cabine and 2 in the mutual area. We have a cozy kitchen onboard with an oven. There’s a diesel heater which we use to heat the boat, but also to dry all our clothes and outdoor gear. There is a hot shower onboard, and most mooring pontoons have a little sanitary building, so we will still be presentable for our last night out on the town after a week of sailing and outdoor fun.

Sailing Plan

Mencia is cutter rigged with a furling forestay, a removeable inner forestay, a removeable cutterstay and a babystay. This flexible set-up allows us to adapt to the sailing conditions at hand.
